Protecting our environment here at Ardoch Lodge and enhancing it for the wildlife who visit us is particularly important to us. That it is such a haven for trees, plants & wildlife makes it a special place to be.
We are delighted to be recognised as a green tourist organisation and have recently achieved silver standard under the Green Tourism Business Scheme. This organisation was established in1997 and its certification scheme recognises responsible site management, encouraging good environmental practice and aims to reduce the environmental impact of all business.
Over the years we have planted many trees and plants to provide habitat for birds, butterflies, bees and other wildlife and for example piles of tree thinings are left to provide further habitat. Our list of resident and visiting birds has grown considerably, red squirrels are regular visitors to the bird tables, red & roe deer often go through the grounds and occasionally we see pine martens.
We are also committed to doing our bit for the wider environment and guests will find recycling facilities, low energy bulbs etc.. Information on locally produced food is available. As well as plenty of walks from the door we are adjacent to a cycle path, so why not hire bikes for the day.
